Neary Bros Racing
It all started when Art Neary, father of Scott and Sam, was about 7
years old. His older brothers bought home what was to be his first set
of wheels, a go-kart. His father donated a tired old 3 1/2 horse
Briggs motor and he was Jackie Stewart, Mario Andretti and Richard
Petty all rolled into one.
Fast-forward three decades.
In 2005 Art dusted off his old kart to get it running for his boys.
Yes, the same old kart his brothers gave him but now sporting a 5 hp
Briggs! Scott was hooked, he took to it like a pro. With fanatic
determination, young Scott worked long hours around the house to earn
the racing kart his father always wanted. So now with Art as the team
crew chief, Scott as the driver and his younger brother Sam as the
lead man in the Pit Crew, Neary Bros Racing was born. '06 was a
learning season. A rough start at first, but with some great advice
from fellow racers and the endless support from Mom, the team was able
to finish the season in a respectable 5th in overall points in the
Junior Sportsman 1 at Snydersville Raceway. This included many top 3
finishes and 2 feature wins.
'07
was a good year for the Neary team! Scott finished second in
points at Hamlin Speedway (PA) in Jr. 2 and third in the PADS series
in Jr. 1 Lite. He also ran several races at Snydersville and had two
Restricted Champ wins there! Sam started racing in the
middle of the season -- ran about ten races at Hamlin with all being
top 3 finishes!
Art, the proud dad, says "We have a long way to go but they are having
a blast and Dad kinda has fun too."
What more can you say? That's what karting is supposed to be
about ... learn a little, have some fun, and enjoy participating in
such a great family activity! If you have a great year and win a
lot....that's just a BONUS! |
